Do you teach students when multiplying by multiples of 10 to just ‘add a zero’ at the end?
For example: 4 x 30 –> multiply 4 x 3 and then add a zero. If so, check out this vlog to teach this important procedure more conceptually AND in a way that will always be true (the problem with this rule is it DOESN’T work for something like 2.1 x 30). When we teach this skill we want to relate it to place value.

My mission is for teachers to feel great about their impact on student learning. I make it easy for teachers to prepare and deliver lessons that will change lives.
